For the next 4 weeks of Lockdown, Astra HC have decided to engage in a fitness challenge.
Our aim as a team, is to stay positive, motivated and fit.
This challenge is a team effort and we are trying to reach the shared goal of 500km by walking, running or cycling while also completing 7000 sit ups, 7000 squats, 6000 push ups and 6000 back extensions. Daily progress will be recorded and published to keep us pushing to reach this goal.
But we have a much bigger goal which involve everyone and it is to raise funds for an amazing charity, The Gavin Glynn Foundation.
We aim to raise €7,000 before the end of lockdown while keeping our team spirit high.
Many children and teenagers are diagnosed with cancer in Ireland. They need to have treatments in order to get better. Unfortunately, some treatments are not available in Ireland.
When families are told that they have to fly abroad with their sick child, there is so much pressure. All their attention is already / indeed focused on their child and it is hard to think about all the organisation that is involved in going abroad.
THE GAVIN GLYNN FOUNDATION is here to support these families. It does an incredible job and help these families. Within no time, flights and transport are booked, accommodation is organised and it also support families with expenses they could have abroad. Through the journey abroad, John Glynn is at the end of the phone, making sure they get everything they could need.
Many families got that support already. We were one of them. Some families are currently supported and many more will be. Thank you to John Glynn and the Gavin Glynn foundation for all the hard work you put to help them/us.
